Our Promise: Ethics Over Sales
- At Inside the Box Home Inspections, I proudly follow the InterNACHI Code of Ethics, which means I don’t have anything to sell you, except the truth.
- Unlike contractors who may uncover an issue just to pitch you a repair, I’m here for one reason: to give you honest, unbiased information about your home. No upsells. No hidden agendas. No commissions.
- I work for you; not for a company, not for a product, and not for profit off your problems. Just clear answers, grounded in ethics, and focused on keeping you and your family safe.
- I won’t downplay serious issues, and I won’t turn a squeaky floor into a five-alarm fire either. You’ll get the truth, not theatrics.
- I know not everyone will love how I operate, and that’s okay. I’m not here to protect deals; I’m here to protect people.
About Me

Hi, I’m John, owner of Inside the Box Home Inspections.
On every inspection Inside the Box, a complimentary Outside the Box inspection is also preformed.
Even if your home is a literal cardboard box…
I’m still your guy.
Like most inspectors, I have worked and still work in the trades.
Unlike most, I also bring skills in Customer Service, Education, Digital Design, HealthCare, Appliance & Tool Repair, and a Deep-Up-To-Date-Knowledge of the Tech-World.
I’m not just someone who understands a home inside and out.
I am someone that knows how to :
1. Explain myself clearly, so that you understand,
2. Treat people with respect,
3. Design easy-to-read reports and literature,
4. Fix components instead of just replacing them,
5. Passionately Educate myself and others,
6. Use my HealthCare skills to communicate clearly with seniors and those with disabilities,
7. Put the latest tools and technology to work for you.

Certified. Educated. Licensed. Dedicated.
I’m a proud member of InterNACHI and graduate of The National Home Inspector Exam.
These are not a requirement in the state of Michigan and not easy to pass.
I took the time and dedication to graduate because I take education seriously;
I carve out time every day to study, review, and stay updated on the ever-evolving world of home systems and building codes.
When people’s homes, safety, and finances are on the line, being “good enough” just isn’t good enough.
I believe not staying informed would be doing my clients a disservice and would be considered robbing you.
I promise not to rob you.

Maybe it’s a compliment?
This probably wont stay up for too long.
I am one of the few in the area that has my Remote Pilot Certification.
I am licensed to use a drone to inspect areas that I cannot physically climb on or in.
Many Inspectors choose to operate without a license.
This comes with serious consequences from the FAA that include large fines and jail time.
The FAA Drone Test is very difficult.
I use the most up-to-date tools and tech to give my community the kind of inspection that’s not just thorough, it’s empowering.
My goal?
To make your life safer, easier, and more informed;
one inspection at a time.
A Bit More About Me

Outside the crawlspace (and sometimes inside it),
I’m a husband and father of two amazing daughters.

I’ve been a lifelong musician, specializing in drums and guitar,
and when time allows, I like to turn sawdust into furniture in my woodshop.

I have worked in the Trades for years and have had jobs for the past 20+ years in various fields that all compliment my inspection style.
I am the owner of a 100+ year old house, so whether I like it or not, fixing houses is not only my day job, but my main hobby.
I am a different kind of Nerd; one that strives every day to learning everything about home repair, home maintenance, home systems, and building codes.
The more I learn, the more I love it.
After all these years, it’s great to use my brain instead of my old brittle hands.

There’s a certain logic to building codes and standards that just makes sense to me.
They are written in blood, as they say…
and I don’t take that lightly.
Every standard exists for a reason, and that reason is often safety.

I normally do not give out my private info on the web, but I want you to trust me.
